My First Step Towards Self-Confidence

by evilnymphstuff

I thought I had self-confidence. I was an intelligent and well-loved girl. I was a dreamer. I lived in my own little world. I had friends, a family… what could possibly be wrong?

But then, when I had to sit for oral english examinations, I realise that in fact, I had a low self-esteem. I couldn’t firstly talk properly, I just ended up stammering and running out of words. Before I was really under stress. After I was drinking my whole bottle of water in one go – and of course I had to rush to the toilet.

I have never felt such panic in my whole short life.

Since that day, I knew that I was not ready at all for Life. I was still young so I fortunately can correct myself in time.

I lacked self-confidence.

Black and Chic

by evilnymphstuff

Hey guys! This will be a short post. I’d just want to update and add some more spice to the Beauty & Fashion category.

Today I’m going to show you two of my favourite outfits I like to wear especially when going out at night. I like to wear black as it is more elegant and makes you appear thinner from a visual perspective :)

PS: I’m not Gothic although many people might think so LOL! Just that Goth is greatly part of my own original style :D

Alright, so Outfit No.1

We are created to create

by evilnymphstuff

I don’t know what’s been happening to me these days. Everyday when I go to bed I feel this desire to write. Anything really. But it has to be on a concrete piece of paper – I just use a notepad – and with a pen, not virtually by blogging or even writing in my private diary in Microsoft Word (password-protected^^)

Therefore I end up continuing some short stories I neglected or write a whole page on my thoughts and state of mind – all of this being private so I won’t be typing these onto WordPress ;P

Then I thought well, it’s true that writing is relaxing, it’s a escape door from reality. With so much pressure and revision work on me, my brain starts to want some play time.

It’s Mabon! Time to bond with nature!

by evilnymphstuff

The Wiccan festivals have a gap of 6 weeks between each of the 8 ones. Six weeks ago, on Lughnasadh I signed up into WordPress. So as today is Mabon, the festival of the Autumn equinox, it has been six weeks since I joined the WordPress blogging community. Wow. So much has happened since! :)

To all my readers therefore I wish you a Merry Mabon! Whatever be your religion… as here we are united by the passion of writing and expressing ourselves, not by anything else.

TV Series Just Eat Me Alive

by evilnymphstuff

Something you should know about me: I can get easily emotionally attached to well-written books and good-plotted movies. I’m also a bit stoical because I almost never cry or whatever… even if sometimes I want to as sometimes it can be good for me.

If you’ve been following me on Twitter you’ve seen that my latest tweets talk about the fact that I’ve finished to watch the whole Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (TSCC) series yesterday.

I yet have to watch the movies of The Terminator in 1984 onwards :D (so excited for that!)

Back to TSCC: This is a series that really touched me and that I fully watched. I usually like very few tv series because the more I grow up the more I expect specific things from movies or books or series… if you get what I mean.

My Life Needs Some Trimming

by evilnymphstuff

Alright, it’s not really my life which needs that, it was mostly my hair. :)

So today I went to a hairdresser and my hair got trimmed! It’s much better now.

My hair:

Before:

hair dyed and cut short

After:

hair dyed and cut short

I know you can’t really see the difference but it’s much thinner and in better order than it was. I especially made my hair be cut behind and on the sides:

hair dyed and cut diagonally

It’s much shorter and better aligned on the sides and back now.

*sigh* I remember when I was young, like any other girl, I watched fairy tales with those beautiful princesses with long and lovely hair… and I wanted to keep my hair long too… but my parents always insisted on cutting my hair, but one day, it was recent, when I was like 13-14 years old, I was old enough to decide about my hair and I tried to keep it rather medium length… and I liked it in a way.

But then one day I looked into the mirror and I realised that in fact long hair doesn’t match with me and I immediately wanted short hair and that’s how I came to get this hairstyle :) I tend to modify it from time to time, dyed it… but the principle stays: it’s still short. :D

Do you like long or short hair? Any opinions?

An Ordinary Student Life

by evilnymphstuff

Hey guys! I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA often these days. So many of you are requesting blog posts from me and I thank all of you for your support :) but as you can see, I have a life too outside of blogging: I’ll be taking part in Cambridge International O-Level Exams in October and I have to do my revision work.

So I was wondering what I could write… and well, as what’s all in my life for the moment is these exams, then why not talk about it? I hope it doesn’t sound boring, but I’d like you to know more about this 16-year-old girl behind the screen and get a glimpse of her life out there :)

Today, Friday 16 Sept, I got my official exams timetable. Ahh!! These papers just scare everyone! :P

Cambridge O-levels examinations papers

My exams will cover a whole month, i.e I will start on the 10 Oct (with French Literature!) and end on the 15 Nov (with Economics paper 1!). Of course, I won’t have exams everyday lol!

Now I have to do my revision work, i.e I have to recapitulate whatever I learnt during the 5 years I was at secondary school… (don’t worry… we mostly revised what we did these last 2 years :P) and I have to practice a lot!

We usually do 8 subjects and they’ll extract the final results from 6 of these 8 subjects. Some people do 7 only and others do 9 or 10… (omg! they’re crazy!) In my school we were compelled to do 8 and I guess it’s the best choice. :)

There were 4 compulsory subjects: French, English Language, Maths, and Additional Maths.

I had to choose 4 others and these 4 should match each other. I chose, first of all for the 1st two places, French Literature and Literature in English. The two vacant places had to be filled either with the sciences or accounting sides… and I chose Accounting because I thought it was more scoring (in fact it’s not, as every subject has the same level of difficulty). Therefore I filled the 2 places with Economics and Principles of Accounts.

Next year we have to choose 3 main subjects and 2 subsidiary ones… General paper (GP) is a compulsory subsidiary subject. I chose this combination:

The 3 mains: French (Literature included), Literature in English and Maths.

The subs: GP and Sociology

I think it’s best I briefly tell you about how I’ll do my revision and maybe this can help you too to organise yours one day :)

How I organise my Revision Work:

First, let’s see:

I do 8 subjects and there are 7 days in a week.

English and French are subjects that you just can’t revise… you know it’s just about language, your vocabulary… no theories, no formulas or quotes to learn by heart. In addition, I’m fluent in both (well in oral english uh not really…xD)

Therefore, I’m left with 6 subjects and 7 days! Yeah! I’ll have a rest day!

I’ve planned it like that:

Monday = Add. Maths

Tuesday = French Literature

Wednesday = Maths

Thursday = Economics

Friday = Principles of Accounts

Saturday = Literature in English

Sunday = random work/free time!

It all depends on you and what you feel is best for you when you have to prepare yourself for an exams. Some I guess would just followe their instincts and randomly choose a subject to revise everyday… or when they feel like it. But I’m  not like that. I need organisation in my studies :)

I don’t know if you’ve read or understood all of this but anyway thanks for passing by and feel free to leave a comment.

IF you have anything you want me to write on you are free to tell me in the comment box below :D

An Evil Nymph.

Trendy Cute Earrings

by evilnymphstuff

Teens have weird but fun ways of trends…

One day when I was buying some cheap everyday earrings I thought about buying two different pairs and wearing two different earrings on both sides of my ears… don’t get it? Well here are my two simple and everyday pairs of earrings:

cute little original earrings

When I went shopping later, I saw that the trend was already out and very famous… There were on one side a lock and on the other a key… and other pairs of that sort on sale! :)

What do you think of this I-mix-together trend?

I find it creative and awesome :D

I can even do this with feathers earrings! That’ll be even nicer ^^

Happy Chinese Moon Festival!

by evilnymphstuff

Hey! Just went back from a traditional family dinner we have every year, small dinner at my grandma’s, where we celebrated the day when the moon is closest to the Earth and is completely full.

I don’t really know what the custom is in China, but here in my family, here’s what we do:

First we eat dinner… of course! lol! a rich dinner and great wine (yeah! my uncle really knows how to choose the best). We have to wait for the moon to appear, because it’s often cloudy. Meanwhile the parents have to light up the red chinese candles… in front of the window which opens up to a direct and clear view of the moon. We place three plates with moon cakes and three glasses of chinese tea next to the candles. It is believed that there are 3 Gods coming and therefore are eating and drinking these while we light up the candles. We pray to them.

Unfortunately we don’t usually take photos so I can’t really show you what happened… anyway I really love this festival. It’s so simple, it’s only among us, small family group…

So we wait for the candles to melt half of their heights – time when the gods are accepting our gifts, and believe me Chinese Gods love to eat! xP – before we open the window to start some sort of ‘ritual’: we have to give money to the gods.

The ‘money’ is some special yellow red papers we just burn then throw outside. My father is ready to splash water in case an accident happens… that’s so funny! The children always rush to watch and want to burn too, but it’s too dangerous.

What’s always stunning and fun is that every year, the sky is cloudy and every year the moment we light our first paper ‘money’ to give to the gods… the moon just shows up! Just like that! Due to superstitions we enjoy ourselves saying that we have to burn everything before it hides behind the clouds again.

Ritual is now almost done and the final stage is very easy: we do what Chinese people always love to do: EAT. :D

Yeps we eat moon cakes! If ever you’re wondering how are these fascinating moon cakes I quickly took some photos at home for you:

chinese moon cakes

It’s not necessarily in such a beautiful box… usually they’re placed separately in small plastic bags but this box is so beautiful that I had to share this with you :)

chinese moon cakes

See? Separate in plastic bags :D

Anyway I feel so tired now… going to go to sleep! I drank Chinese tea but although it should make me stay awake it doesn’t work on me lol! just like coffee… to me they’re just some nice drinks :P Only fizzy drinks can make me stay awake! ^^

Write to you next time!
