So yesterday as I reached around 46,000+ words, I surprisingly typed:
THE END
And I still had at least 4000 words to write so as to reach the final 50,000 word goal for NaNoWriMo.

I Think WAY Too Much!
So yesterday as I reached around 46,000+ words, I surprisingly typed:
THE END
And I still had at least 4000 words to write so as to reach the final 50,000 word goal for NaNoWriMo.

We have only one month, 30 days, to write a whole novel of at least 50,000 words. That means at least 1,667 words per day. For many, this sounds like an impossible challenge. For others, they know they can do it, because they’ve done it before. And for a few, it is way too easy and the word count exceeds the 50k limit quickly.
But whether it’s a piece of cake or of rock to you, we all have this tendency of rush and urgency when it comes to NaNoWriMo.

On the 1st November, instead of attacking the blank page and starting this ruthless challenge of writing 50,000 in a month, I finished my last two exams papers and ended up sleeping. It was only yesterday that I started to write, and my NaNo statistics are well below the expected word count… for the time being.
Are you in the same situation?

The adventure is over. We, writers, are back to our normal rate of a hundreds of words per day instead of the massive 1,600+ words that we’ve had to write everyday for one whole month to finally win this year’s August Camp NaNoWriMo.

Hey, that’s mine
I was lucky that the first two weeks were relatively easy because I was in holidays so I had a great start (4000 words on the very first day!). And when I compare this year’s performance to last year’s in November, I can clearly see a difference: I improved at that crazy thing! Here are my statistics:
So Camp NaNoWrimo is soon coming to an end, if you’ve been participating, we’re already in the last week of writing 50,000 words! I’m sorry that I did not really talk about my NaNo plans and all that, compared to last year’s NaNoWriMo, but let’s say that I got a great start, but since school started it’s been harder to keep up. I’ve got better statistics than last year though, so it’s all right
Because my life is all about writing for the time being, today I’m going to give you two tips, I think I’ll be short as I have to get to writing (lol), that is efficient for me when I get the syndrome of the Writer’s Block.

The holidays are now officially over here in Mauritius and the 3rd and last term of the school year has begun today. Let me tell you that the last week of my holidays were totally filled up: going out with friends, with family (coming from overseas), keeping up with tuition, and with Camp NaNoWriMo of course.
My worst fear then was to lose control.
I’m sure most of you have felt as such at least once in your lifetime: the feeling of being too busy, having too much to do and not having enough time.
First of all, I’d like to wish HUGE LUCK to the Camp NaNoWriMo June participants!!!

In fact, I’m not participating.
Yes I’m not as I’m going to take part for the August one
That’s because I’m very busy with exams and school activities in June whereas in August I’m in holidays! (well half of the month at least)
Congrats!!!!

I’ve reached 50k words too yesterday night ^^ (did you see my winning badge on the right??) but hell, my novel is nowhere near ready! I feel like I’m still halfway in the writing. I reviewed it briefly yesterday and realised that I have much much to edit and all that. But really, I thank NaNo because thanks to this challenge I am now determined to finish the story and maybe next year or when I’ll be ready for it: I’ll go and publish. My dad told me he’d help me if I do.
I usually plan my characters first, before going on to the plot, when I write a story. Sometimes when I get a great idea – great for me LOL – I note it down of course, then I let myself dive into a whole new universe…
I sort of enter a relationship with every of the characters I made up and as I get to know more about them, I slowly build up a plot that will maybe never be written – haha, because I’ve never thought of seriously writing a novel before I met NaNo.
In my NaNo novel, the main protagonist is called Elaine Graith and she is the girl who becomes a daemon but is stuck in Heaven. One afternoon, I took pencil and paper and drew a quick sample of her.
If you have been following me on Twitter you might have noticed that… well I haven’t tweeted much these days and neither did I posted much on my blog because I had a full week of depression + exams + keeping up on NaNo.
Fortunately NaNo wasn’t that much of a problem, only that it really used up all my spare time!
Anway this will be a short post…
Everyday I’m trying to write at least 2000 words instead of the usual 1667 so that you’re safer…
and also because I discovered a horrible thing about Microsoft words:
The word counter is terrible!

It’s really true you know, the fact that your characters tend to build the story by themselves. My NaNo novel is quie different from my actual planning, but that’s great. As I type on, I keep getting more ideas, I get to know more about my characters. It’s awesome!
And how is NaNo stalking me? Well, my story is about Angels and Daemons and right now I’m concentrating on the most gorgeous one called Gabriel, and on Saturday when I went shopping, I could stop seeing ‘angelic’ things. Don’t worry, no Hallucinations! What I mean is that in stalls I could see clothes which make you feel like you are an angel when you put it on, just like this one:
I was planning on posting every day this month due to NaNo but well I don’t think I’ll be able to LOL so there’s no “day 2″ post sorry about that. I might be posting like every 2 days or so… and not only on NaNo because I don’t want to annoy the non-participants either…
Last time when I published my NaNo day 1: Starting the Fire in Heaven post (by the way the title “Starting the Fire…” has been chosen because of my NaNo novel title “Burning in Heaven” in case you didn’t read previous NaNo posts and thus didn’t have a clue about that), wordpress showed the usual message:
“You’ve now published 75 posts on this blog!”
But there was also this second part which I found very funny:
“This is your 1st post tagged nanowrimo2011. Youve written 708 words and your novel is now 1.4% complete. Wicked!”
Haha!! Well sorry but I’m not writing my novel on WordPress but in my dear forever writing friend: Microsoft Words. And I thought that if I tagged my posts “nanowrimo2011″ it meant that I was writing about NaNo, tips etc… It’s written here anyway:

Hi guys! So NaNoWriMo has begun today. Last night I was still up at 23.45 and I had enough guts to stay ’til the clock struck twelve to start my NaNo novel! Yeps I started typing at 00.00 today! Since that, I’m completely into it! It’s fun – for the time being. We never know what mischief this challenge holds back…

Anyway I only wrote for about 30 minutes – 554 words already – before I went to bed. I wrote the prologue only. I like it when prologues are short.
