You can use the new generation chemicals that do a lot of harm to your skin now while making them look all new and shiny for a short while or you can use the old tried and tested natural remedies that people have been using for centuries to get a new and fresh looking skin.

A Warrior’s Hair

by evilnymphstuff

This week’s Picture it & Write:

braids hair

“Can you braid my hair, please?”

Ciara grinned at her mother and widened her eyes in the way that would make any glacier melt. She knew that she was doing this every morning and that every morning she would be late to school because of this.

Memories Of A Beauty

by evilnymphstuff

It’s Friday! So it’s time for… this week’s Picture it & Write:

memories of a beauty

I need to destroy it.

I took the soft orange paper between my fingers.

Are you a fool? My conscience was retorting back at me.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Geometry

by evilnymphstuff

I found it a little hard this week: geometry. This word reminds me of mathematics or the laws of the universe… It’s a vast word, but a much meaningful one.

As a simple teenage girl, I am just going to show you a bracelet – a geometric one you would say? – I did by myself this week.

Beauty Reflections: What Can Dating In The Dark Teach Us? [Guest Post]

by evilnymphstuff

We’ve all heard phrases like “Beauty is skin deep” but often wonder how true this really is. The dozens of dating shows that have popped up on the television over the years seem to challenge this idea with contestants that look like models. A new show is testing out this idea. “Dating in the dark” is a new dating show that is completely different from the ones we have seen.

The Fashion Organizer

by evilnymphstuff

It’s been a long time since I haven’t been posting on fashion, you know so here we are, with a new crazy, and hopeful helpful, post of mine…

I don’t follow the actual trends or whatever although I love to watch and read about fashion. It’s fun. Makes my eyes water ;) I usually have my own style and recently, I’ve been a little more conscious of what I wear, so I’ve started to consciously build my own fashion trends – of course, inspired by other trends. All right, I’ve been thinking about it for a while, if you’ve read my last fashion posts (see in the categories in the right sidebar!), but I’ve never really sort of organized my clothes, keep records of outfits and so on.

But now I am.

This was one of my very first outfits to become ‘digital’, I mean which I took a photo – last year.

What if I’m not Skinny and Do Not Have The Height of a Super Model?

by evilnymphstuff

So what if I’m not skinny and do not have the height of a super model? [Sorry for the long title by the way]

It isn’t supposed to matter. We know it doesn’t matter. But do clothing retailers and magazines help us to think so?

No. Not at all.

In about two weeks I’m going to a Gala Show at night and my friends and I were talking about what to wear. A dress, most probably. But it’s so hard to find one at your right size, style and personality. Most of the chic clothing I see in shops are stereotyped: they seem to be only reserved for skinny and very tall girls. And what about the rest? Yes there’s a brand for pregnant women. Pregnant women! What about the others then? Those who are not too big or too skinny but still have to hide a belly? Those whose height is under average?

In truth, ladies, whatever be the shape of your body, it’s always hard to find the perfect – at least suitable – dress.

Because I don’t have much experience in fashion, I’m only going to give you some tips when choosing a dress, for those who are like me: short and a little fat in the middle :P

Girls, prepare your observant eyes and untiring feet… because the search will be difficult.

The Right Dress

If you wish to hide your excess belly fats, you should pick up an empire line dress, which means that the belt of the dress should be just under your breasts:

Beauty Isn’t What Makes You Beautiful

by evilnymphstuff

Alright now you might be thinking that I’m going to lecture you on the fact on which everyone babbles about yet never really apply it in their minds: that beauty lies in the soul, in one’s personality, and not in exterior beauty.

Yes, I don’t disagree with that.

But I’ve found that the real problem is how to make your beautiful personality visible? I mean, I know for all of us, especially women, it’s hard to believe that we are beautiful, because every morning our mirror claims otherwise. We know that we have amazing personalities but only we know. What about the others then? It’s hard for them to break the ice to finally reach this beauty that lies inside, and most of them just won’t bother digging. So how to make the link between interior and exterior beauty?

And before you click out of this page, which I hope you won’t, let me tell you that the solution isn’t about makeup and hair or clothes.

It’s much more than that.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Blue

by evilnymphstuff

Blue? When I think of blue I automatically think of the sky, because here in Mauritius the sky is really always blue. It’s amazing. There is pollution but it’s not enough to break Mother Nature’s spell on our dear little island…

And I like how the green leaves just contrast this vivid gradient blue. This is the Mauritian sky, guys. Viewed from my school’s premises today 17/05, which is by the way the international day against homophobia! :)

Enjoy the blue. This is all I have to say for this challenge. Sometimes we have to stop the babbling and just… watch. After all, less is more. ;)

Guest Post: I Have Cancer and I Am Beautiful

by evilnymphstuff

I’m still in the mood ‘fight-against-cancer’ so I requested Jackie Clark (I talked about her in my World Cancer Day post) to write a guest post on cancer and beauty, which she did marvellously well on my makeup blog. By the way, it’s going to be the very first guest post of this blog! Yay!

If ever you wish to be a guest blogger here, you just have to email me on magic.daphy@gmail.com (yeah I know it’s childish but I created it when I was 11 and I don’t want to change it! :P )

So here’s what she wrote for An Evil Nymph’s blog for us today :)

I Have Cancer and I Am Beautiful

by Jackie Clark

You have mesothelioma cancer. You have breast cancer. You have uterine cancer.

It’s a fact.

Now comes treatment, doctors, and more prognosis than you could’ve ever imagined in one person’s life.

None of it has anything to do with the fact that you are beautiful. You are a beautiful person and you can’t forget that despite cancer your life is precious. Life is wonderful and you can make the best of every situation—cancer diagnosis or not.

You’ll need to remind yourself of this every day.  You have your loved ones-they’ll support you.  They will give you something to smile about every day, as they always have.

At the end of the day, the only person that can hold you up is you.  You need to maintain your strength, your self-respect and the positivity that will not only carry you, but those that need you.

You’re beautiful and I’ll prove it.

Go look in the mirror.

There is nothing more powerful than looking in the mirror and liking — no, loving — what you see.

Don’t like what’s looking back at you?

Let’s do something about it.

Nothing Can Steal Your Beauty – no, not even Cancer.

by evilnymphstuff

Yesterday was World Cancer Day, and earlier, in my makeup blog, I had the pleasure to welcome a guest blogger, Jackie Clark who wrote an article on women having cancer, to tell them that it doesn’t mean that they have to stop caring about their body, their beauty… You can read the post here: Keeping Beauty in Your Life.

Jackie writes in honour of women having mesothelioma cancer and has her own blog: The Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance Blog. You can also follow her on Twitter @CancerAlliance and believe me, her posts are worth it.
