I will be writing a Novel!

Mais quelle mouche m’a piquée??

This is a French expression…

Literally meaning: But what mosquito bit me??

Figuratively meaning: OMG what did I just do??

This is what I’m feeling right now – well part of. Because thanks to my dear friend Aurora, I’ve been tempted to participate in the NaNoWriMo 2011!!!

What is it? Well every year thousands of aspiring writers sign up to the website HERE, adding those who have been taking part in this competition since so many years, are requested to write a whole complete novel of about 175 pages which is 50 000 words from November 1st to November 30th.

This is crazy.

I know, I know, but I’m a restless girl and when I discover the opportunity to do something – any hobby of any kind – I jump on it!

We never know how my life and perceptions will be a year after now – I might change opinions and find something else that writing/blogging (I hope not!)… Anyway we just never know, so I’m not going to wait for 1 year, I’ll do it this year!!! 😀

And I hope I succeed.

I’ve already signed up and read the forums. There’s no going back.

I still have to find ideas! But it’s slowly taking shape… so I don’t worry about that! ^^ and I have a whole ‘Ideas Copybook’ in my drawer so…

One Month,

50 000 words,

Thousands of participants.

Do you want to take this challenge?

🙂

  1. That is very inspiring! Just trying something as bold and challenging as this is such a great life opening experience. It’ll boost your confidence in yourself and your writing just by entering! Best of luck friend. Please post sections of your piece maybe? As you write, just to get some feedback perhaps? And I do love reading others’ pieces 🙂

  2. Oh good luck! That contest has always intimidated me. Ermi’s and my novel has taken two years to write and I don’t work well not being able to edit. Good luck! While you’re waiting for November…

Ermi and I want to invite you to join The Girl Effect blogging event bringing awareness to a charity dedicated to ending poverty by tapping into the potential of young girls. Check out today’s post for more information; the event runs Oct. 4-11.

  3. OH YAY! I can’t wait to see what you come up with, MD. And I am absolutely LOVING your new blog look, BTW. Awesome. Will be back soon,
    As always,
