5 Reasons Why I Prefer Evil Characters

therese desqueyroux françois mauriacLes « coeurs sur la main » n’ont pas d’histoire ; mais je connais celle des coeurs enfouis et tout mêlés à un corps de boue.

This French quote from François Mauriac very much describes my main motivation for siding with evil characters in my stories. I can’t really translate it though, because in English it won’t have that same impact it had on me, you see… The French language has a particular (charming and poetic) style that I just can’t reproduce in English. But basically, Mauriac tells us that he prefers to write on those who are ‘evil’ and unconventional instead of those who are good and virtuous.

I can totally understand why. (And I totally understand Mauriac thus that’s why I’m in love with his book, Thérèse Desqueyroux).

When I don’t Write, I Draw :)

It’s heartbreaking to turn over the last page of a very dear writing/ideas copybook… and realise that you have so much to tell, to note down, yet there is no more space.

Yes, my two favourite writing copybooks (where I write snippets of stories and jot down ideas of plots, etc) got used up, and now I’ll have to buy others. 😦

Remember THIS POST?

All right I have another idea copybook but I don’t really like to write in this one. You see, most of these copybooks have been offered to me as gifts, thus I didn’t choose them… so it’s no surprise if some just don’t fit my taste 😛

♥Fashion and Fiction♥

How can we as writers combined the two? Keep reading!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but on the sidebar there’s a Polyvore widget. What’s Polyvore? It’s a website for those who like to virtually create their own fashion trends and styles, who make up outfits or simply express themselves through combining images to form a unique masterpiece.

I’ve been on Polyvore for quite a long time but it was only a few days earlier that I really got into it. You can check out my profile HERE (and add me if you have an account too ^^ if you wish!). I got the idea from the dragon-lover and writer Shéa MacLeod: to make up my own character’s outfits! (check out MacLeod’s Polyvore too!)

And this is just so so fun!

For example I did 3 outfits for my protagonist who is Elaine Graith – the daemon girl stuck in Heaven:

Getting to Know More About My Characters…

I usually plan my characters first, before going on to the plot, when I write a story. Sometimes when I get a great idea – great for me LOL – I note it down of course, then I let myself dive into a whole new universe…

universe and galaxy

I sort of enter a relationship with every of the characters I made up and as I get to know more about them, I slowly build up a plot that will maybe never be written – haha, because I’ve never thought of seriously writing a novel before I met NaNo.
