My First Step Towards Self-Confidence

I thought I had self-confidence. I was an intelligent and well-loved girl. I was a dreamer. I lived in my own little world. I had friends, a family… what could possibly be wrong?

But then, when I had to sit for oral english examinations, I realise that in fact, I had a low self-esteem. I couldn’t firstly talk properly, I just ended up stammering and running out of words. Before I was really under stress. After I was drinking my whole bottle of water in one go – and of course I had to rush to the toilet.

I have never felt such panic in my whole short life.

Since that day, I knew that I was not ready at all for Life. I was still young so I fortunately can correct myself in time.

I lacked self-confidence.

Adding Colours To My Life

Most of you know that I’m very fond of makeup and I frequently watch makeup tutorials on Youtube. So today I was doing just that and I ended up in a very creative channel which is not only on makeup but also on painting! Digital painting to be more precise, with Photoshop. The girl is just so talented! I was amazed! Her name is Meowyuanw and here’s one of her wonderful arts:

Painting is such a beautiful art. I think I’m gonna start doing that 🙂

It has so many advantages like:

(i) Relieves stress and makes us relax; a good remedy (after chocolate!) when social expectations and school/work are demanding too much of you, and you get imprisoned in a pressure bubble.

(ii) It is a way to express your inner self, just like makeup… 🙂

(iii) It is a way to play with colours and enjoy yourself.

(iv) Your visual senses and creativity (right side of your brain :D) become much more precise.

(v) It makes you learn about Patience…

In addition Digital Painting is money consuming as you don’t need to buy lots of paint pots or paper. It’s all in your computer! 🙂

From this:

You can end up with:

This is my first digital painting for the time being 🙂 I use Paint but of course I’ll have to download the Photoshop later 🙂 Just wanted to try and see for myself how it’s like. Firstly it’s very tiring (Did you know: I get tired more when I work mentally than when I work physically), but it makes me want to learn art!

When I was doing Art at school I hated it because the teachers always expected specific designs from us… while what we all wanted was to freely express ourselves on this blank white paper. That’s why most people don’t like taking art courses unless they’re very good at it and really passionate about it.

For me it will only be another hobby to be added to my long list! 🙂 But whatever hobby I decided to adopt I always ended up putting all my love in it. I love myself for that 😉

But I think I’ll begin by simple pencil sketches for the time being. Then maybe I’ll take on Photoshop and all that. I might be posting my amateur drawings because I would like to know your opinions 🙂

What I’ll draw? Faces, faces and again faces!!! Human features are more interesting to paint 🙂 It’s also due to my makeup addiction 😛 Imagine, giving LIFE to an empty page…

Just like we can all add colours to our lives when these are the darkest…

Take Care!!

Artistically Yours,

An Evil Nymph.

“How to ask my mom for makeup??”

Alright that’s not a question I’m asking myself because well I didn’t even have to ask my mom really if I could wear makeup… no monopoly at home! lol!

Well I was surfing on Yahoo! Answers for a while 🙂 and I found this nice, usual question – yes indeed I guess every girl feels a little scared when they want to wear makeup for the first time, apprehending parents’ reactions… – and I read the answers… There was one answer which caught my eyes and it’s so fun that I decided to share it here with you guys!

The answer:

Just Tell Her That Would It Be Okay If You Wore Some Make-Up For Your 16th Birthday Party. If She Says Yes,Sure, That’s Fine,- Then You Can Go And Buy All The Make Up You’ve Dreamed Of.

If She Says What Did You Have In Mind – Limit It To Mineral Powder or Foundation or Concealer , Eyeliner, And Mascara.

If She Looks At You And Raises An Eyebrow – Say That You Are Only Going To Wear It On The Party And That Now You Are Sixteen You Think Your Old Enough To Wear It Reasonably, Properly, And Age Appropriately.

If She Says You Are Too Young – Tell Her That Other Girls That Are Your Age And Under Wear It And That You Are Only Gonna Wear a Little And Only On That Day.

If She Says No – Go The Full 120 Miles, With Puppy Dog Eyes And The Pretty Pretty Pleases And Give Her a Whole Speech On How Make-Up Seems To Give Other Girls Confidence You Don’t Have Blah, Blah, That You Obviously Wanna Be The Prettiest Girl At The Party Blah, Blah.

My Dream of Makeup Courses

Well it’s already Sunday and tomorrow, after 3 long weeks of holidays, I’m going back to school. 😦 Bye bye relax, Hello stress!

I’m doing my O-levels this year and I hate it. I hate the pressure, the working-so-hard atmosphere! It tires me; and I’m tired of friends that think I’m the best and when I’m not, they’re like they’re shocked as if I’m not human, like them. This year is the most horrible, stressful one since I entered secondary school five years earlier – wow seems long!

And what frustrates me more? On the 22, 23 August, an advanced makeup course is being organised by Pastel Cosmetics in my country and I so wanted to go! But it’s during school days. I hope they organise the course again later. You know because in my country we’re not very… um creative. Singing, dancing, acting, makeup and other arts are not taken into consideration here; we’re more like academic hardworkers here. Therefore I’m not even sure the course will be re-introduced… It was my only chance to at least have some professional help in what I’m doing now in my makeup blog! That’s why I’m eager to graduate and go to university abroad, like Singapore or even in Europe – I live in Mauritius, google it if you haven’t any clue where it’s found.

pastel cosmetics makeup courses in mauritius

Rs 5000 = about $ 178

The price is affordable I’d say! Even my father agreed but unfortunately it’s during school so… that’s too bad! =(

As I’m going back to school I won’t be able to post much, but still subscribe! You can never know… 😉 a writer’s inspiration is always spontaneous and unpredictable!

My 10 Favourite Makeup Channels!

Here’s a post from my makeup blog Makeup Is Art, which I decided to reblog:

Today I’ve decided to dedicate my post to the youtube channels that made me discover and love the wonderful art of makeup 🙂
I’ve chosen 10 out of my subscriptions that I strongly recommended checking out their channel. These makeup gurus on youtube are awesome! I love watching their vids.

PS: the list is not in the order of best-to-watchable, but mainly my-first-meeting-with-makeup-to-the-most-recent-one…

5 Easy Facial Skin Care Tips

When you feel the need to take care of your skin – especially at teenage with all the pimples etc. – and you search through the net or go to a pharmaceutist for advice, they all end up telling you these 3 main things:

1. Buy a face cleanser and use it twice a day

2. Buy a toner to be applied just after the cleanser for your pores’ sake!

3. Buy a moisturiser

There are so many other products that they all counsel you and you use up all your money.

Even I bought a face cleanser… but in fact these are only quick-fix solutions, as today everyone wants to have everything to be done in one click!

I discovered 5 most important things to do for a better healthier skin – it will take time though, much more than if you buy all these. But it saves you money and time. I just had to share it with you. The funniest thing is that most of you already do most of these things daily, without knowing that they are indeed beneficial to your skin.
