This is a list of why I don’t feel like I’m Mauritian.
I’ve lived in front of a waterfront and within 10-15 minutes from a beautiful beach for 19 years, and frankly, I don’t miss it. I haven’t been to a beach for more than a year, and I don’t care. That’s also why I’ve never been interested into travelling to ‘beach’ islands around Malaysia.
The most common language Mauritians use to communicate with one another is Mauritian Creole. But my mum conditioned me to only speak French; she used to scold me if I spoke Creole when I was young. I do understand Creole and people do talk to me in Creole, but I always reply back in French. I just can’t bring myself to speak the Mauritian dialect.

Another post in 2015 already, yeah! Anyway, today I just wanted to share my (perhaps overly) personal review of ‘On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft’ by Stephen King, because at the end of the day it will probably be found in my life-changing book list. Read further to see why!
This review has been published on Goodreads as well; my longest review ever written there, I believe! By the way, if you’re on Goodreads too, feel free to add my as a friend! I would be glad 🙂 Just CLICK HERE. Continue reading “On Writing…”
On Friday 3 May 2013, I was finally 18 years old!
Now you’ll know why I wasn’t able to blog until now.
So yeah, on Friday, it was my birthday. I’m not the party-girl type, so I didn’t have a very big party with drinks and evening dresses…
It was better than that.
And that was because we went on our annual educational tour (school outing) on that day! Such a coincidence, right? So we put our pens and copybooks away and headed for the wild forests…
In fact we went to Domaine De Lagrave where we walked among the wilds and climbed on top of a mountain until we thought we would die of exhaustion or cold or… laughter!

Everyday, we struggle for our survival.

All right, no ‘weekly photo challenge’ anymore; this time, this week, the Daily Post decided to host a slightly different challenge: the Phoneography Challenge! And this week’s theme is My Neighborhood…
All the photos are taken from my roof…
Can you see the little red house on an island? It’s famous around the whole country for being The Red House 🙂 I’m proud to be living just in front of it!

Since I missed last week’s photo challenge, I’m going to merge both the one I missed and this week’s into one and same post… and photo: Home and Kiss together, which makes Kisses from Home 🙂
This is the flower that my father gave to my mother on St. Valentine’s Day. For him, it’s a tradition to honour the woman he loves every year with a beautiful fresh morning red rose. (at 6 a.m.!)

Hey everyone, I’m back! 🙂
Today I’m going to share with you something I do a lot when I stay at a hotel: I play with food! Well, not that kind of playing, but I like to just be creative with the presentation of my food in my plate. I usually do this mainly for desserts and breakfast. And desserts especially when there’s a chocolate fountain! (which we had this year!)
Therefore, simply scroll down and enjoy:

Here’s this week’s Picture it & Write, and my contribution:
Dear An Evil Nymph,
I am sick. Sick and tired of this life. A thousand years had passed since I was born as a vampire. No, I was bitten, like everyone else. I was only a baby at that time. Left to myself.

Through? The themes of the challenge are becoming vaster every week…
Through… it invokes a passage, a tunnel from one end to the other; the path that we have to walk in between our life’s pitched points. It is the changing, shifting, moving process. Nothing concrete, only flow and movement. Unstable but getting to a particular goal.
How am I going to tell those 1000 words in a picture? Here:

As any other children in a family, I go to seek advice from my parents (especially my father) when I’m not feeling good.
“Dad, my stomach hurts.”
“Drink some water and it’ll go away.”
“Dad, I have a headache.”
“Go and drink a glass of water.”
“Dad, I’m feeling nauseous.”
“Drink some water.”
“Dad, I’m sick!”

When I say ‘love’ I mean universal love, i.e. should it be partners’ love, parental love, friendship.
I think it’s too bad to only believe that St. Valentine’s Day is only celebrated by lovers. At school we all wished one another a happy St. Valentine’s Day and one of my friends told me that she was going to go out with her family for dinner tonight. Because they live in love.
So I love my friends and family… and my fellow readers and blogging buddies!
That’s why I’m going to share the awards I received recently and I’m going to ‘pass the love on’ as the saying goes. 🙂
With all my heart, I thank:
1. MoonLightened Way for the One Lovely Blog Award.
2. Leila Gaskin for the Sunshine Award.

Really, did you think that I would forget to post this week’s photo challenge? 😛
I just had to wait for my sister’s birthday which is today but which has been celebrated at my grandma’s yesterday… and because this week’s theme is all about family… well, let me present you my family!
Hey so from left to right: Me, my mom and little brother, Adrian, then the party girl: my sister Cynthia and finally my dad 😀
She is now 11 years old from today ^^

Haha! For those who know me well this is what I would’ve heard when they’d read the theme of the challenge of the week. To tell you the truth most of the time when I stay home, I don’t eat breakfast. I just tend to forget about it, compared to when I’m at school because school demands a lot of mental efforts — and you know what? I’m more tired when I do mental things than when I exercise physically!
Don’t do what I do, do what I say.
That’s a great quote, because I don’t encourage you not to eat breakfast. Eat your breakfast!! It’s the most important meal you should have in your every day routine! For mostly everyone it’s not and it’s rather dinner that comes out to be the most important, but scientifically that’s not true. Eat breakfast please. Every day.
I’m not perfect, I know… but anyway, I made an effort to have a breakfast today, for the challenge’s sake… and also because I felt slightly hungry this morning 🙂 Might be because I slept on my book last night? (or very early this morning)
Happy breakfast everyone!
This morning I invited my friends Shira and Andy (please check out their blogs) to share breakfast with me — virtually via Twitter LOL — and we ate crunchy bread with Nutella and digested everything with a cup of coffee! ^^ (I drink my coffee with a small amount of milk in it by the way)
Have a nice Friday everyone!!!
An Evil Nymph.
