4 Reasons Why Contemporary Feminists Have To Watch ‘Once Upon A Time’

The fourth season of ABC’s television series, ‘Once Upon A Time’, is upon us. If you love modern adaptations of classic fairy tales, this is the cherry on the top of the cake. As you run through each episode, try to identify all of the children’s stories the producers integrated throughout the storyline: it makes a viewer’s experience more interesting. What is also appealing in the series is the contemporary, but somehow still ideal, approach towards gender and socio-cultural issues.

  1. Equal rights in a romantic relationship

Ever dreamt of living in a world where women are the ones to ask men for a date without the fear of being considered as ‘weird’ or of humiliating the male ego? Well, Emma Swan makes the first move to make this a reality by – finally – asking Killian (a.k.a. Captain Hook) out officially in the fourth season. An equal compromise was maintained when the latter offered to choose the restaurant. Moreover, they are business associates, looking after each other’s backs. Besides, the fact that Emma is the town sheriff, therefore the one with higher social power, does not seem to disturb the Captain, or anyone else in Storybrooke for that matter, which leads us to the next point…

The Copycat & The Search For Belonging

(SAME) INTRO:

~ Being a future psychology student, I decided to create a new category of posts here on An Evil Nymph’s Blog which will be dealing with some of my weird and crazy theories of life and people. For fun, of course since I don’t have a degree yet. Also I’m not trying to make generalisations and it’ll be best that as you read on imagine putting in the word ‘maybe’ in every sentence. These are only my 19 year old opinions. Anyway, scroll down at your own risk… and enjoy! ~

If you haven’t read the first and previous post in this Psychology series, I strongly recommend you to do so here: Narcissism & Manipulation, because the copycat type we’re going to analyse this week is the one whom I let you have a glimpse of in that post.

For those who remember briefly, we encountered the copycat as a victim of the manipulative narcissist, as being easily influenced without a fixed personality to cling on to, copying aspects of the people he admires to fill this identity void of his.

However, he is not to be pitied entirely.

Narcissist. Self-centred. These are words that describe those people who are in “pursuit of gratification from vanity” or have egotistic admiration of one’s own physical or mental attributes, that derive from arrogant pride.” (Source: Wikipedia)

When I first discovered that word, I could easily identify some of the people I knew having such a behaviour. From what I had seen in my short life, narcissism was not hard to decipher as those people were so open about being like this… and even proud of their self-adoration. One could imagine someone who likes holding a mirror and looking into it 24 hours a day without shame.

However, lately I’ve found another kind of narcissism. One of a more subtle nature.

And more dangerous as well.

Planning A ‘Going To University’ Video Series | I NEED YOUR HELP!

Hey everyone! If you’ve been following my recent posts, you might notice how I’ve been much into photography lately… and more active in the blogosphere as well! However, on the other hand, I’ve also started to vlog again, posting videos more regularly – every Friday – and since I’m currently in that stage between high school and university, I’d like to cover this very subject as a video project to keep me going.

I already know what university I’m going to attend in July – soon! – and my place is already booked and all so I guess that I will soon be doing ‘packing’ videos and such stuff, but I’d also like to do Q&A videos.

And I’d like the questions to come from you guys.

As me anything in the comments below, everything you want to know about going to university, especially if you’re a student applying yourself this year. Even if you’re not a student, just tell me whatever information you would like to know about this high school to university process.

I’ll try my best to answer all of you.

Meanwhile here’s my latest video:
